....regarding my not updating

It has been a while sense I have updated my blog but with good reasons. I finally graduated college on May 15 with my Bachelors of Science degree in Religion from Liberty University. It was a challenge but I am glad I was able to accomplish this goal even though initially I had thought such an idea of going back to college was the worst idea for a man such as I who has a family and job. A good Friend of mine kept encouraging me to go to Liberty University but I kept ignoring him and to make a long story short God providentially moved my family and I just North of LU in 2006 and I ended up getting accepted and enrolled in classes by fall of 2007. I had not planned all of this and simply had moved to VA for other reasons but God overruled and here I am today finished with my undergraduate work and I started graduate school a couple weeks ago -the Monday after I finished my undergrad degree.

The family is doing great. The weather has been hot for the last couple weeks which means we all go down to the river for a swim on a regular basis. I started pastoring again and the congregation at Central Baptist Church where I serve have been real loving to our family. My prayer is that God will use us mightily as we preach His Word. It is so refreshing to be able to serve at a church in my community instead of having to commute.

...well, I have got to go -will try to post on a more regular basis

I'm Back....

it has been a while since I have posted due to all the snow here in rural VA. We have had snow each week and one weekend a few weeks ago we had over two feet-and this was in addition to previous un-melted accumulations. All this =lock down which affects every area of life.

We live half a mile off a paved road which isn't exactly maintained. Our drive is a modest incline to put it mildly and can only be accessed by our 4x4 jeep. Suffice it to say that we are experiencing a genuine winter and are finding new ways to express praise to God in the midst of it all. I am happy to report that I have been voted as interim at Central Baptist Church in our community and am enjoying encouraging the saints-they are a dear congregation.

I do look forward to going to Winter Jam to see Third Day and some other groups. It will be a real "Winter Jam" this go around...ha ha!!

God's Peace to all

Rhythms

....almost a month into this new year and decade and I am needing to find my rhythm. How to get it all off the ground will have to include massive underpinnings of the enabling power of God. One of my favorite truths from John 15 includes Jesus telling His disciples (and us) that without Him we can do nothing. Without Christ -we will either fail miserably or succeed even more miserably.

So, in my own squirrelly fashion-I embrace the unknown and trust God. I should strive with God's help to make certain to not allow any vestiges of my own efforts to surface when "going at" looking for my rhythms-it would be a dichotomous approach that would end with a forlorn venture slowly flowing out the door as it were over-against a robust valiant fortified resolve.

...maybe I'll start by doing a few more sit-ups, or go walking on the treadmill....

Seriously...

One thing I would like to report is my opportunities to preach and minister in the community which my family and I live in. God has opened a door of utterance and I am thankful for the weekly privilege of doing my part to make Him famous in the world. He does not need me to do this but chooses to allow me to speak of Him.

I pray for wisdom as I share His word at Central Baptist Church-they deserve to hear from God

back in class

...today I start in my final semester at Liberty University. I have only electives to complete the required 120 credit hours for my Bachelors degree in Religion with a specialization in Counseling. It has been a journey fraught with all sorts of challenges. For anyone reading this, encourage those young people who God brings into your life to get their college out of the way early!

"Just do it....then talk!"

When it comes to new years resolutions, I think this year I'll just go ahead and work at implementing those changes that I know I need to make and then talk about it. In the past, I would blab and go-on about my resolutions and then suffer the embarrassment of explaining why I had failed to continue.

So this year I will stay quiet for a while and I will "Just do my resolution stuff....and then talk about it"
